Marketing Workshops and Talks
Make your business look bigger
We 've turned the Tell Your Story online module into a workshop based on what we found out from talking to the people who really know how to stack the deck in their favour.
It covers how to turn your story into keywords - how to test them using Google adwords and how to deploy them by
- Using them to optimise the site itself
- Using them as anchor text on links from third party sites
- Using them as anchor text on additional social media presences you create yourself
- Using them to tag rich media in web 2.0 environments like blogs, you-tube, twitter, social media profiles etc.
The next workshop will be held on 1st December at the Hub, 5 Wormwood St, London. There's a theoretical session in the morning and a hands on session in the afternoon. The price for both sessions is £135 book here
Workshop Content
Marketing is about creating a good story that connects you with your customers and telling it in the right places – especially on the web.
We’ve talked to several early adopter small companies during our current research programme who have become quite sophisticated in how they use on-line and web 2.0 techniques to help them punch above their weight and look more substantial to the outside world.
So we’ve created a hands on workshop for you to learn how to use these tools in your own business.
We’ll show you how to:
- discover the all important key-words that you need to develop your story and connect you with your customers in their language
- use blogging and tagging to spread the word and magnify your impact
- maximise traffic to your site with a little judicious search engine optimisation
- create and embed audio and visual material to add punch to your story
- use on-line networking, profiles and affiliations to multiply your presence
- use RSS to tie together all your online presence so that information you’ve created in one place can be sent somewhere else.
We’ll use examples from our early adopters to show how everyday businesses are using these techniques to Punch above their Weight.
The workshop itself is quite interactive. We start with an overview of Marketing itself. What's your story and where are you going to tell it. What's the right balance between on-line and off-line activity.
The key thing on the internet is to be found - how do you drive or attract traffic to your site. This largely works through key-words - they drive searches and tagging. Many companies spend a lot of money on Google ad-words to drive traffic to their site. However it's not generally recognised that you can use it as a research tool. If you cap your spend at 3 pounds a day you can have utter certainty about how people search for your products for about £300 spent over 3 months. We tell you how to do this.
Once you've got this we tell you how to use the information in blogs, in social networking sites like Ecademy and Facebook and on you-tube to drive traffic to your site. This will help you generate the leads you need to automate your prospecting process so you can focus on working with people who want to work with you.
We also show you how to use this information to optimise your own site. After all - it's the organic search rankings you're after isn't it?
In the afternoon we run 2 indepth sessions, one on using Google ad-words, the other on how to set up and run a blog. If you really want to make the internet work for you, this is the workshop to attend.
This is what some other people said about it

Spent a very enjoyable day at Alan Rae's Punch Above Your Weight workshop yesterday learning all about RSS feeds, the wealth of social/business networking sites, blogging sites and GoogleAdwords.
Informative, fascinating and superbly presented with a wealth of course content and handouts, plus the chance to interact on a post workshop forum afterwards to maintain contact/ask for advice. Excellent, thanks Alan, highly recommended!
Alan keeps course numbers manageable to ensure a high ratio of tuition to attendees. In yesterday's case, an impressive 2:1

An amazing person who is a fountain of knowledge and inspirational. After attending his workshops, you really do feel totally motivated to do things NOW! He makes everything 'come together' so you really understand the whole Web 2.0 experience. I highly recommend his workshops and reading anything he offers on his websites.

Having attended Alan's workshop 'Punch Above Your Weight' this morning, I just had to write a testimonial. I class myself as a reasonably technically aware person but during the workshop I improved the effectiveness of my Google Ad Words campaign, increased the impact of my Facebook Account, opened (and populated) a Wordpress Blog - which I was able to import my blog from Blogger into - and also got an understanding of Squidoo - plus how to enhance my existing presence on Ecademy.
